Grammar Point:
In this lesson, we will focus on asking about prices and using the verb “custar” (to cost).
The verb “custar” is usually used in the third person singular or plural depending on the item:
- Quanto custa este livro? (How much does this book cost?)
- Quanto custam essas maçãs? (How much do these apples cost?)
Also, remember that when you're using currency in Portuguese, you often place the currency before or after the number:
- Custa cinco euros. (It costs five euros.)
- São dez reais. (They are ten reais.)

Text:

Listen to a short conversation between a customer and a vendor in a market. Try to identify the prices of the items and what payment method the customer uses.

Practice a dialogue with a partner. One person is the customer, the other is the vendor.
Example:
- Customer: Bom dia! Quanto custa este queijo?
- Vendor: Custa doze reais.
- Customer: Está em promoção?
- Vendor: Sim, hoje está por dez reais.
- Customer: Vou levar. Obrigado!
