The Dakar Language Center (DLC), established in 2008, serves the unique needs of English-speaking university students seeking to learn local languages of West Africa in Dakar, Senegal. Recognizing the challenge for non-French speakers learning local languages in a predominantly French-speaking environment, DLC has become a preferred choice for Master's and PhD candidates conducting research in Senegal, The Gambia, or Mali. While catering to academics, DLC also welcomes undergraduates, vacationers, and expats needing local language skills for work. As a small but dedicated company based in Dakar, DLC offers personalized attention to both personal and professional requirements. The center provides language training for groups and individuals, offering courses in Pulaar/Fulfulde/Fulani, Wolof, Bambara, and Mandinka. Classes are conducted at the main office in Dakar, with the flexibility for field-based training based on the availability of trainers and host families. DLC's language facilitators are highly qualified, including former or current Peace Corps language trainers, native speakers of the languages they teach, fluent in English and French, and committed to assisting students in cultural integration.
