Simple Sentences and Dialogues in Bengali



Lesson Objective:


By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to use simple German sentences and engage in basic everyday dialogues, with their meanings translated into Bengali.



Vocabulary List:



  • Hallo: Hello — হ্যালো

  • Wie geht es dir? How are you? — তুমি কেমন আছো?

  • Mir geht es gut. I am fine. — আমি ভালো আছি।

  • Danke: Thank you — ধন্যবাদ

  • Bitte: You're welcome / Please — স্বাগতম / অনুগ্রহ করে

  • Entschuldigung: Excuse me / Sorry — মাফ করবেন / দুঃখিত

  • Ich heiße... My name is... — আমার নাম...

  • Woher kommst du? Where are you from? — তুমি কোথা থেকে এসেছো?

  • Ich komme aus... I come from... — আমি ... থেকে এসেছি।



Grammar Point:


Simple Sentence Structure in German:

German sentences follow the basic Subject-Verb-Object (SVO) structure.


Example:



  • Ich bin müde. — I am tired. — আমি ক্লান্ত।

  • Du bist freundlich. — You are friendly. — তুমি বন্ধুবৎ।


Note: The verb must always be in the second position in main clauses.

Dialogue:


Anna: Hallo! Wie heißt du?

Raj: Ich heiße Raj. Und du?

Anna: Ich heiße Anna. Wie geht es dir?

Raj: Mir geht es gut, danke. Und dir?

Anna: Auch gut, danke!


Translation in Bengali:


আন্না: হ্যালো! তোমার নাম কী?

রাজ: আমার নাম রাজ। আর তোমার?

আন্না: আমার নাম আন্না। তুমি কেমন আছো?

রাজ: আমি ভালো আছি, ধন্যবাদ। আর তুমি?

আন্না: আমিও ভালো, ধন্যবাদ!



Listening Comprehension:


Task: Listen to an audio clip of a German dialogue where people greet each other and say where they come from. Then answer the questions: Who is from Berlin? What is the other person’s name?


(Note: Teacher will play an audio file with a simple dialogue. If learning independently, learners can use an audio resource such as a podcast or a video with simple German greetings.)



Speaking Practice:


Task: Pair up and practice the following dialogue. Translate and rehearse it in both German and Bengali.


Person A: Hallo! Ich heiße [Your Name]. Wie heißt du?

Person B: Ich heiße [Partner’s Name]. Woher kommst du?

Person A: Ich komme aus [Country].
