Ordering at the Restaurant (In Bengali: রেস্টুরাঁয় অর্ডার করা)

Lesson Objective:

By the end of this lesson, learners should be able to order food and drinks at a restaurant in Bengali using basic vocabulary and polite expressions.

Vocabulary List:

  • রেস্টুরাঁ (Restaurant) – A place where people go to eat meals

  • তালিকা / মেনু (Menu) – A list of food and drinks offered

  • অর্ডার (Order) – To request food or drinks at a restaurant

  • ভাত (Rice) – Rice

  • মাছ (Fish) – Fish

  • মাংস (Meat) – Meat

  • পানি (Water) – Water

  • চা (Tea) – Tea

  • বিল (Bill) – The check or payment

  • ধন্যবাদ (Thank you) – Thank you

Grammar Point:

In Bengali, polite requests often use the verb "দেওয়া" (to give) in forms like "দিন" (please give). When ordering in a restaurant, customers often use polite structures such as:

  • আমাকে একটি মেনু দিন। (Please give me a menu.)

  • আমি ভাত ও মাছ নিতে চাই। (I would like to have rice and fish.)

  • আপনি কি সাহায্য করতে পারেন? (Can you help?)

The respectful form of the verb is used when speaking to servers or strangers. Use "আপনি" for "you" in polite situations.
