Feelings and Emotions in Bengali (বাংলা)
Lesson Objective:
By the end of this lesson, learners should be able to recognize, understand, and use key vocabulary and basic sentence structures to describe feelings and emotions in Bengali.
Vocabulary List:
Grammar Point:
In Bengali, emotions are often expressed using the verb "লাগা" (laga) when referring to physical or emotional feelings. For example, "আমি খুশি লাগছে" (Ami khushi lagchhe) means "I am feeling happy." Another way is to directly describe the subject with an adjective: "আমি দুঃখিত" (Ami dukkhito) – "I am sad."
Word order in Bengali is Subject + Object + Verb. For feelings and emotions, adjectives usually follow the subject directly unless using phrases like "লাগছে" (lagchhe).
Examples:
- আমি রাগান্বিত – I am angry
- সে ক্লান্ত লাগছে – He/She is feeling tired
- তারা খুশি – They are happy
