By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to identify and name basic body parts in Bengali, describe common health issues, and express how they feel physically.
Vocabulary List:
- Head – মাথা (matha)
- Eye – চোখ (chokh)
- Ear – কান (kan)
- Nose – নাক (nak)
- Mouth – মুখ (mukh)
- Hand – হাত (hat)

- Medicine – ওষুধ (oshudh)
- Hospital – হাসপাতাল (hashpatal)
Grammar Point:
Using the verb "to have" ("ache" in Bengali – আছে) to describe pain or presence of symptoms.
In Bengali, we often use the structure:
আমার + [body part] + ব্যথা করছে
– I have pain in [body part]
- আমার মাথা ব্যথা করছে – I have a headache
- আমার পা ব্যথা করছে – My leg hurts
The verb "করছে" (korche) comes from "to do" and implies an ongoing action – used here to indicate ongoing pain.
Exercises:
Reading Comprehension:
Read the following text:
রাহুল আজ অসুস্থ। তার মাথা ব্যথা করছে এবং গলা ব্যথা করছে। সে স্কুলে যায়নি। তার মা তাকে ডাক্তার-এর কাছে নিয়ে গেছেন। ডাক্তার কিছু ওষুধ দিয়েছেন।
