Krystof-Sandor Harfst: Language enthusiast

Hi guys my name is Krystof, I was born in 1995 and I live in the north of Germany, in Lübeck. I have been interested in languages since I was in primary school. As my sister, who is a few years older than me, I always wanted to learn vocabulary with her, which she had to learn for her English and French lessons.

I studied English from the third grade until I graduated from high school. In the upper school, I was in the English advanced course. I studied French from Year 6 to Year 13, but I lost a bit of motivation there, but I still loved the fact that I understood a lot of things in French and could communicate a bit.

After that, languages weren't that interesting until I went to Sweden about 4 years after my A-levels and I fell in love with Sweden and wanted to start learning Swedish. That's what I did, I tried apps like Duolingo or Babbel at the beginning. During my studies, I then noticed that there were Swedish courses at my university and I took Swedish lessons for about 2 years and reached about B1/B2 level, then I continued this privately and watched Swedish movies and series and listened to podcasts and used apps like Tandem and Lingbe to get in touch with people from Sweden to improve my language skills. Through these apps I then came across languages like Arabic and Persian, because many people who have these mother tongues want to learn German, and I became interested in learning these languages.

As Arabic and Persian were very difficult for me to learn, I only have a basic knowledge of them so far. Through a very good friend I then started learning Tamil because he has Tamil roots, here too I only have basic knowledge so far, as it has a very complex alphabet and the pronunciation is very difficult for me as a German, for this I have also taken Tamil lessons on Preply for over a year.

Around that time in February 2022, I started creating this website to help people learn languages for free. I tested many apps for language learning and methods and want to share helpful content for language learning.
